Washington:U.S. President Joe Biden spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday, discussing Washington's support for Kiev as the latter continued to fight against Russia on the battlefield.

Biden and Zelensky also discussed "recent events in Russia," it said.

Zelensky tweeted: "I spoke with 🇺🇸 President @POTUS. A positive and inspiring conversation."

He said: "We discussed the course of hostilities and the processes taking place in Russia. The world must put pressure on Russia until international order is restored."
