French President Emmanuel Macron tests Covid-19 positive

Paris: France's President Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for Covid-19, Elysée Palace said on Thursday.

A statement from the French presidency said that the President will work remotely.

"In accordance with the health guidelines in force applicable to all, the President of the Republic will isolate himself for 7 days," the statement read.

The country imposed an overnight curfew to deal with the increasing cases there.

France has recorded 2,409,062 cases so far, with 59,361deaths.
