Dhaka, Sept 21 (IBNS): As a part of the Bangladesh government's crackdown on illegal casinos, Rapid Action Battalion or RAB officials have arrested Kalabagan Krira Chakra President Shafiqul Alam Firoz and four others during a raid on the sport's club in Dhaka city of Bangladesh, media reports said on Friday.

During the operation, officials seized foreign coins, playing cards and gambling equipment, casino-style scoreboard, a foreign-made firearm, three rounds of bullet and drugs, reports said.

The firearm and methamphetamine-based yaba tablets were found in Firoz’s possession, RAB-2 Commander Ashik Billah told bdnews24.

The others arrested with Firoz are his associates Liton Mia, Hafizur Rahman, ‘Anwar’, and ‘Harun’, the RAB officer told the news portal and added the four would face criminal charges for illegally being in possession of weapon and drugs.

RAB officials also raided the Dhanmondi Club in Metro Shopping Mall.

It has a bar but it was close during the raid.

RAB-2 Company Commander Superintendent of Police Md Shahabuddin told bdnews24 they did not find anything illegal during the operation on the club.
