Co-education is reason behind closure of universities: Afghanistan Minister

Acting minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Abdul Baqi Haqqani has said the co-education system in the country's  universities along with economic woes is a major reason behind the closure of universities.

Abdul Baqi Haqqani was quoted as saying by Khaama Press that they have to make separate classes for girls and hire extra lecturers that need more time and extra budget.

The acting minister of higher education who recently returned from Pakistan said that he was there on an official visit and discussed the problems of Afghan students with Pakistani officials and relevant administrations.

“We discussed the problems of Afghan students and we were given assurance by Pakistani officials. Pakistan increased yearly scholarships for Afghan students by 500 Afghanistan will be provided 1,500 scholarships every year,” Haqqani was quoted as saying by Khaama Press.
