Canada: 6th International Day of Yoga to be virtually observed in Toronto on Jun 21

Toronto/IBNS: The sixth International Day of Yoga will be virtually observed here on Jun 21, Consulate General of India, Toronto office reported.

On the occasion of the 6th International Day of Yoga, Consulate General of India, Toronto along with High Commission of India in Ottawa and Consulate General of India, Vancouver is collaborating with prestigious Yoga Institutions across Canada to host virtual sessions of ‘Yoga from Home’ through Social Media, Consulate General of India, Toronto reports said.

Yoga is a 5,000-year-old tradition from India that combines physical, mental, and spiritual pursuits to achieve harmony of the body and mind.

On Dec 11 in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared Jun 21 as the International Day of Yoga.

The declaration came at the behest of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to the UN General Assembly.

The Yoga sessions will cover a range of topics including building immunity, Yoga for the mind, breathing techniques, etc.
