Kabul: A hand grenade explosion inside a mosque in Afghanistan's Kabul city on Wednesday left at least six people hurt, media reports said.

"A man hurled a hand grenade inside Pul-e Khishti Mosque at mid-day. As a result, six people were wounded," the Afghan Ministry of Interior wrote on Twitter as quoted by Xinhua news agency.

The injured people were rushed to hospital for treatment.

The suspect has been arrested.

"The blast occurred shortly after people offered praying at mid-day. The Taliban security forces have cordoned off the area for precautionary measures," eyewitness Najib Ullah told Xinhua.

No group claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
