Blast hits canteen in China, 20 trapped

Beijing: A blast hit a canteen of a subdistrict office in Wulong District of China on Friday left at least 20 people trapped under the debris.

The accident took place at 12:10 p.m. due to suspected gas leakage which triggered the explosion and caused the collapse, said the municipal publicity department as quoted by Xinhua news agency.

According to witnesses, people were having lunch in the canteen when the blast took place, the news agency reported.

The injured people were rushed to hospital for treatment.

An investigation is currently underway.
