Dhaka: At least two motorcyclists died during an accident on Bangladesh's recently unveiled Padma Bridge, media reports said on Monday.

This is the first instance of any death reported due to mishap on the mega project since it was unveiled last week.

Alamgir and Fazlu, both aged 25 and identified with a single name, were brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared them dead on Sunday night, Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the police camp at the hospital, told bdnews24.

The youths appeared to be filming the trip during the accident that occurred in a place between pier No. 27 and 28 in the evening, police added.

Police said an investigation into the incident will start.

The circumstances which led to the blast is still not known.
