Bangladesh: 166 new death recorded due to COVID-19

Dhaka: Bangladesh continues to witness the fury of COVID-19 pandemic as 166 people lost their lives in the past 24 hours, media reports said on Friday.

The total death toll due to the virus in the country now stands at 18,851.

During the same period, 6,364 people tested positive for the virus taking the total number of infections to 1,146,564 in the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Dhaka Tribune reported.

During the last 24 hours, 9,006 patients recovered from the infectious disease.

Bangladesh has reimposed a strict lockdown from Friday to contain the virus.
