Afghanistan Taliban frees 3 Indian hostages in exchange for its 11 members
Kabul: Afghanistan Taliban has claimed that they have released three Indian engineers who were held hostage for more than a year in an exchange for securing the release of 11 of its members, media reports said.
Three Indian engineers who were taken hostage approximately six months ago in Baghlan province have been freed in exchange for 11 Taliban prisoners, including leaders, from Bagram prison on Sunday, Sayed Mohammad Akbar Agha, a former Taliban commander confirmed to Tolo News.
According to reports, the freed Taliban members include Sheikh Abdul Rahim, former governor of Kunar, and Maulvi Abdul Rashid Baloch, a former governor of Nimroz, reported the news portals.
No details of the Indians freed by the Taliban is known so far.
Tolo News, however, also reported that the Taliban has not officially confirmed this report, nor have officials from the Afghan or Indian governments.
