Afghanistan policeman fights against Taliban forces for 18 hours alone

Kandahar: The Taliban is slowly trying to make its grip stronger on Afghanistan soil but amid such a dark situation a police officer has emerged as an icon in the country as he fought against the terror group members for nearly 18 hours alone.

Ahmad Shah fought against Taliban forces in the southern province of Kandahar.

He told Tolo News the Taliban are undertaking a massive propaganda campaign about the military offensives to demoralize the Afghan security forces.

Ahmad Shah and 14 other policemen were deployed at a checkpoint in the suburbs of Kandahar city when the Taliban attacked them. Ahmad Shah, who was wounded, did not surrender and resisted the Taliban for 18 hours, reported the Afghanistan news agency.

The condition of Shah is said to be stable.

“I did not surrender, I did not lay down my arms and I fought back,” Ahmad Shah told Tolo News.

“The enemy is very weak. They want to frighten us through their propaganda. I learned that no one should fear the enemy in real life,” added Ahmad Shah.
