Kabul: An Afghanistani journalist from Kapisa province of the country has gone missing, media reports said on Tuesday.

Abdul Hanan Mohammadi has gone missing since Sunday afternoon.

Family members of Mohammadi told Tolo News that he left his home with friends on Sunday morning in Hisa-e-Awal district of Kapisa. Since then, the family said they have no information about Mohammadi.

“Today, we were informed that the Islamic Emirate detained him. I say to them that my brother is innocent and they should release him,” Ishaq Mohammadi, brother of Mohammadi, told Tolo News.

“They promised us to release him on Sunday but there is no information about him for the past week,” Sakina Hossieni, Mirza Hosseini’ s wife, told the news portal.

The media-supporting organizations asked for answers from Taliban about the disappearing journalists.

“If the situation keeps going on like this and the government doesn’t pay attention, we will face a bad disaster,”Rashid Sediqqi, head of a media watchdog group, told Tolo News.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) asked the Taliban to give explanations for the arrest of journalists.

" #Afghanistan: Abdul Hanan Mohammadi, journalist in #Kapisa province, has been missing for 24 hours, probably arrested. RSF denounces an increase in arbitrary arrests of #journalists and asks the #Taliban to provide explanations," RSF tweeted.
