Afghanistan citizens seeking refuge in Pakistan are sold visas for over $1,000 in black
Islamabad: Pakistan is allegedly selling visas in the black markets to Afghanistan refugees, who are seeking a shelter in the nation after escaping Taliban rule, for USD 1,000, media reports said.
The routine process of issuing visas to the Afghan nationals has stopped and has become cumbersome, as claimed by an Afghani citizen, ANI reported quoting Pakistani vernacular media.
The move is surely burdening Afghanistan refugees who are already struggling financially.
“So far, over 1.5 million refugees have been identified and this process continues until July,” Naqibullah Mazlumyar, a refugee, told ANI.
Hundreds of Afghan refugees in Pakistan on June 9 called on the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the international community to respond positively to their asylum applications, reports ANI.
Holding a protest with the slogan “Save Us” that entered the 57th day, they lamented the fact that the world has forgotten Afghanistan in the aftermath of the Russia-Ukraine war.
On the contrary, India recently decided to grant e-visas to over 100 Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan on priority after a gurdwara was attacked by Islamic State terrorists.
The attack left two people dead.
