Afghanistan: Afghan soldier kills a American soldier

Kabul, Apr 8 (IBNS): An American soldier was killed as Afghan National Army has exchanged fire with U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province, reports said on Wednesday.

According to reports, the incident occurred  after a senior U.S. official held a meeting with the provincial governor.

Fazal Ahamad Shirzad, provincial police chief told Khaama Press that  in the exchange of fire the ANA soldier who first started the fighting was killed and another wounded.

Conforming the incident, the U.S. Embassy in Kabul said in a statement: "We are aware that there was an exchange of gunfire involving Resolute Support service members near the provincial governor's compound in Jalalabad. The incident took place after a senior U.S. official held a meeting with the provincial governor."

"All Chief of Mission personnel of the visiting party are accounted for," read the statement.
