Kolkata/IBNS: For pilgrims who are planning to visit Deoghar in Jharkhand during the famous Shravani Mela can now avail direct flights to the city from Kolkata and Delhi, thanks to the newly opened airport.

These new flights considerably reduce transit time to and from Kolkata and Delhi; so long pilgrims had to take the road or rail routes to reach the pilgrim town, also known as Baidyanath Dham.

The ancient pilgrim town is known for the Baidyanath Temple dedicated to Shiva, Trikuta Parvata, Rama Krishna Mission Vidyapith, Naulakha temple and other attractions.

The Baidyanath Temple is considered as one of the 12 Shiva Jyotirlingas.

The annual month-long Shravani Mela (fair) will continue till August 12, this year.
