Air Canada, Emirates renew partnership in deal extending through 2032
Toronto/IBNS: Air Canada and Emirates will extend and expand their strategic partnership under a memorandum of understanding signed by both carriers, the airlines announced Tuesday.
The renewed agreement will keep their reciprocal codeshare and loyalty partnership in place until December 31, 2032.
The partnership, launched in 2022, has connected more than 550,000 passengers across 56 codeshare routes linking Canada, the United States, Dubai and destinations in the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
Both airlines said the expanded agreement will improve customer benefits, add potential new codeshare gateways in Canada and deepen cooperation on cargo operations.
“Air Canada’s partnership with Emirates has been highly successful, and we are proud to renew it early, expanding its scope and extending its duration through 2032,” said Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer.
He said the agreement supports Air Canada’s Toronto–Dubai service and strengthens connections for passengers and cargo shippers.
“Our strategic partnership with Air Canada has delivered exceptional results, and we are pleased to extend this collaboration through 2032,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ deputy president and chief commercial officer.
He said the carriers have seen “consistent trade expansion” between the UAE and Canada since 2022.
The airlines are also exploring a potential joint venture on cargo to support shipments between the Americas and markets across Asia and the Middle East.
The extended agreement includes plans for improved airport benefits for eligible passengers and coordinated operations ahead of Emirates’ move to Dubai World Central after 2032.
Since relocating its Dubai operations to Terminal 3 in 2022, Air Canada has provided eligible passengers access to Emirates’ lounges.
The carriers’ loyalty partnership allows Aeroplan and Skywards members to earn and redeem points across both networks, with plans to expand redemptions to each airline’s premium economy cabins.
Air Canada currently operates daily Boeing 787 service between Toronto and Dubai. Emirates operates daily A380 service between Dubai and Toronto and a daily Boeing 777 flight to Montréal.
Bilateral trade between Canada and the UAE rose 14% between 2022 and 2023, with Canadian exports reaching C$3.3 billion in 2024, according to government data.
