Yuvraj Singh will be missed: Ravi Shastri

Mumbai, Mar 30 (IBNS): Indian cricket team's director Ravi Shastri on Wednesday said Yuvraj Singh will be missed during the semi-finals of the ICC World T20.

Singh has been ruled out of the remaining ICC World T20 due to injury.

"He will be missed," Shastri said while addressing a press conference here.

"It is unfortunate that the injury occurred during the game," he said ahead of India's semi-finals clash against West Indies.

Singh has been ruled out of the ICC World Twenty20 after twisting his ankle during India’s last Super 10 game against Australia in Mohali.

The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee has approved Manish Pandey as a replacement player for Yuvraj in India's squad for the remainder of the tournament.

The 26-year-old Pandey has played two T20Is, which were against Zimbabwe in Harare in July last year. He has also played four ODIs and scored a match-winning century (104 not out) against Australia during India’s tour Down Under earlier this year in the final ODI.

Hosts India, champions of the inaugural edition in 2007, will face 2012 winners the West Indies in the second semi-final in Mumbai on Thursday at 7.00 pm IST.

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 comprises Geoff Allardice (ICC General Manager – Cricket, Chairman), Anurag Thakur (host representative), MV Sridhar (Tournament Director), Campbell Jamieson (IBC representative & ICC General Manager – Commercial), and Ian Bishop and Nick Knight ((independent nominees).
