What happened to my family in Punjab beyond horrible: Suresh Raina whose uncle was 'slaughtered to death'

Raina, who returned to the country from Dubai last Saturday, said his uncle was slaughtered while his aunt and cousins suffered injuries.

He tweeted, "What happened to my family is Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua & both my cousins had sever injuries. Unfortunately my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical & is on life support."

Tagging his tweet to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Raina demanded an inquiry into the incident.

The southpaw tweeted, "Till date we don’t know what exactly had happened that night & who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes."

Earlier several media reports had claimed Raina returned to India as he was not happy with the hotel room he was offered in Dubai.

Attacking Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's confidante, franchise owner N Srinivasan told Outlook, "Cricketers are like prima donnas ... like the temperamental actors of the olden days. Chennai Super Kings have always been like a family and all seniors players have learnt to co-exist."

"I spoke to MS (Dhoni) and he has assured me that even if the numbers go up, there was nothing to worry. He spoke to the players through a zoom call and asked them to remain safe. You really don't know who is a passive carrier."

However on Saturday, CSK CEO KS Viswanathan had said Raina returned to India owing to his personal reasons.
