Virat Kohli can be the best Indian captain: Sunil Gavaskar

Mumbai, Jan 6 (IBNS): Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar on Sunday said Virat Kohli had the capability to become the best captain India has ever had.

“As a captain, I still have my little concerns but I think now what has happened, he (Virat Kohli) is a fast learner, and we have seen that in this series. If he keeps learning, he is going to be the best-ever (captain) that India has had, in terms of results and in terms of getting the players to perform at the highest level,” Gavaskar told Sony Sports on Sunday.

This comes at a time when India is in a very good position to win the four-match Test series against Australia under Kohli's captaincy.

They have already retained the Border-Gavaskar trophy with the win in Melbourne. India are 2-1 ahead in the series.

Kohli has received praise from all quarters for the Indian team's performance.

Even former Australian captain Michael Clarke has said that Kohli's performance was was far better than his Australian counterpart Tim Paine.
