Mumbai, Dec 10 (IBNS): Battling his off-form, Indian opener Murali Vijay scored the eighth Test century of his career to help India reduce the deficit against England here on Saturday, day three of the fourth Test match.

At lunch, India are placed comfortably at 247 runs for the loss of two wickets.

The home team now trail England by 153 runs.

Rendering support to Vijay (124 not out) is Indian captain and batting mainstay Virat Kohli, who is unbeaten on 44.

Vijay's 267-ball innings consists of nine fours and three sixes, while his partner has managed to dispatch five of the 86 balls he has faced to the fence.

India lost Cheteshwar Pujara (47) early in the day.

Off late, the Shaurashtra batsman has shown ominous form with the bat, scoring centuries and half centuries in almost every match.

Kohli and Vijay have added 101 runs for the third wicket and will resume batting following the start of play.

For England, Moeen Ali and Jake Ball accounted for KL Rahul and Pujara respectively.
