Thomas & Uber Cup postponed due to COVID-19

Copenhagen/Xinhua/UNI: The TOTAL BWF Thomas & Uber Cup, scheduled for May 16-24, has been postponed until August 15-23, according to Badminton Denmark in a press release issued.

Badminton Denmark, Badminton World Federation (BWF), Sport Event Denmark and Aarhus Municipality made the collective decision to postpone the tournament "in light of the extraordinary situation the world is in right now, as a result of COVID-19".

Meanwhile, Badminton Denmark encourages all fans, everyone with tickets and other interested parties to stay informed on badminton.dk and on Badminton Denmark's FAQ it said on Friday.

"Our priority is the health, safety, and well-being of athletes, staff, volunteers, judges and the entire badminton community. With that in mind, it is the right decision to postpone until August," said Thomas Lund, General Secretary of The International Badminton Federation, (BWF) in the press release.

The TOTAL BWF Thomas & Uber Cup is an international badminton championship, for members of the BWF who have national men and women teams.

The competitions are held biennially at the Ceres Park Arena in Aarhus, Denmark.
