T20: Sri Lanka beat India by 5 wickets

Pune, Feb 9 (IBNS): Sri Lanka defeated India by five wickets in the first T20 match of the series here on Tuesday.

Restricting India to 101 all out, Sri Lanka reached 105 runs for the loss of five wickets with 12 balls to spare.

Chamara Kapugedera (25) and Dinesh Chandimal (35) added 39 runs in the third wicket partnership which helped Sri Lanka reach closer to the target after the visitors suffered initial jolts and were reduced to 2-23.

Milinda Siriwardana played a crucial knock of 21 unbeaten runs at the end of the innings which contributed to the visiting nation's victory in the match.

R Ashwin and Ashish Nehra picked up two wickets each in the match.

R Ashwin earlier put up a fighting unbeaten 31 that helped India cross the 100-run mark.

Losing wickets at regular intervals, India were bowled out for 101 runs.

Kasun Rajitha and Dasun Shanaka picked up three wickets each in the match for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka take 1-0 lead in the series.
