Sydney, Aug 14 (IBNS) Keeping in mind the post-Michael Clarke, the Australian selectors on Friday has named Steve Smith as the vice-captain for the last Ashes Test match.

Clarke will retire from cricket after the match.

Australia has lost the Ashes with England already clinching the series with a 3-1 lead.

In Test, Smith will be named the captain of the World Champions after Ashes while opener David Warner has been named his deputy.

"@stevesmith49 confirmed as Test captain following #Ashes. @davidwarner31 named vice-captain," Cricket Australia tweeted.

Chairman of selectors Rod Marsh was quoted as saying by CA website: "We have had a clear succession plan in place for the captaincy with Steve Smith gaining valuable experience leading the Australian Test Team while Michael Clarke was recovering from injury last season."
