Sri Lanka fight back to draw third Test, India win series 1-0

New Delhi, Dec 6 (IBNS): Sri Lankan batsmen put up a gutsy show with their willow as the visitors managed to draw the third Test against India here on Wednesday.

Chasing 410 for victory, Sri Lanka put up 299 runs for the loss of five wickets.

Dhananjaya de Silva played a heroic innings  of 119 runs before he was retired hurt but that was enough to help Sri Lanka move further towards a draw.

He smashed 15 boundaries a six in his knock.

Dinesh Chandimal (36), Roshen Silva (74*) and Niroshan Dickwella (44) played important knocks that helped the fightback against India.

Sri Lanka were reduced to 31/3 at stumps on Tuesday.

Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets for India.

With nine straight Test series victory, India equalled Australia's record.

India won the series 1-0.

Kohli now matched former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting's record of winning nine consecutive Test series victory as skipper.
