Second Test: New Zealad 85/4,rain hits proceedings

Kolkata, Oct 1 (IBNS): Rain interrupted proceedings on the second day of the second Test match between India and New Zealand at the end of the 24.2 overs here on Saturday.

After India were bowled out for 316 runs, New Zealand were battling at 85 runs for the loss of four wickets when rain hit the match.

Ross Taylor  was unbeaten at the crease at 30 no after Luke Ronchi was dismissed for 35 by Ravindra Jadeja.

Martin Guptill (13), Tom Latham (1) and Henry Nicholls  (1) have already departed, giving New Zealand a tough challenge ahead in the first innings.

Earlier, India were bowled out for 316 runs.

Cheteshwar Pujara (87), Ajinkya Rahane (77) and local lad Wriddhiman Saha (54 no) remained the top scorers for the side.

Matt Henry picked up three wickets for New Zealand.
