Kolkata/Mumbai/IBNS: Former Indian cricket captains Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who have entertained millions with their marathon opening partnerships, have joked about the modern-day cricket rules as the international cricket board praised the duo for their spectacular performances as an opening pair.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has recently shared a tally which shows Tendulkar and Ganguly as an opening pair scored over 8,000 runs at an average of 47.55 in 176 One Day International (ODI) partnerships, more than any other pairs.

Tendulkar retweeted and tagged his childhood on-field partner Ganguly while commenting, "This brings back wonderful memories Dadi. How many more do you think we would’ve been able to score with the restriction of 4 fielders outside the ring and 2 new balls?"

Ganguly, who is now the president of the Indian cricket board or Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), replied to Master Blaster's tweet, "Another 4000 or so ..2 new balls..wow .. sounds like a cover drive flying to the boundary in the first over of the game.. for the remaining 50 overs."

Tendulkar and Ganguly have opened India's innings for a long time and was considered a serious challenge to the world bowlers.
