Pune shine bright in Kolkata, beat ATK 4-1

Kolkata, Nov 26 (IBNS): With a spectacular display of both defence and attack, Pune crushed defending champion ATK 4-1 in a group match of the fourth edition of Indian Super League at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan here on Sunday.

Dominating the entire match, Pune restricted the home team from registering their first win on the ongoing tournament.

Upsetting the ATK, Pune took a straight lead at the 14th minute of the match with a goal by Brazilian Marcelo Leite Pereira.

Though home team ATK got few opportunities to level the score after Marcelo's goal, failed to hit the net.

At the 27th minute, ATK attacker Hitesh failed to control the ball near the goal post, failing to earn a point for his team.

Though TH. Bipin Singh helped the home team to compensate a goal immediately after the commencement of the second half, Pune's Rohit Kumar scored a counter goal to enable his team take the lead once again at the 51st minute of the match.

Turning the ATK's defence to a joke at the 60th minute, Pune's Marcelo scored a dramatic goal to bring the two-goal lead to the visitors.

The two-goal lead seemed to be not enough for the visitors as Uruguay's player Alfaro, at the 79th minute, scored the fifth goal of the match with the help of a brilliant pass from Brazilian footballer and Pune captain Marcelo.

As home team ATK were losing all hopes to get back to the match particularly after Alfaro's goal, the spectators at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan had started to leave the stadium.

ATK is yet to win a match in the ISL 2017.
