Pune beat Hyderabad by 34 runs

Hyderabad, Apr 26 (IBNS): Under D/L method, Rising Pune Supergiants defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 34 runs in an IPL encounter here on Tuesday.

Pune restricted the local side at 118 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

With rain disrupting the proceedings, Pune reached 94 runs for the loss of three wickets in 11 overs and were later declared winner in the match under D/L method.

Steve Smith was the top scorer as he remained unbeaten at  46 runs.

After Ajinkya Rahane (0) departed, Smith and Faf Du Plessis (30) added 80 runs in the second wicket partnership which helped the side keep them ahead of the opponents.

Earlier, it was only Shikhar Dhawan (56), who maintained the momentum for Hyderabad, the remaining batting line-up collapsed.

Dhawan hit two boundaries and a six in his unbeaten 53-ball knock.

Ashok Dinda destroyed the hosts with his strong performance as he picked up three wickets by giving away 23 runs.
