MS Dhoni should have announced retirement from cricket field: Inzamam-ul-Haq

Islamabad/New Delhi/IBNS: Former Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has felt India's World Cup-winning skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni should have announced his retirement from cricket field instead of doing the same by posting on social media while sitting at home.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Inzamam said, "Dhoni has millions of fans across the globe who want to see him play on the ground. In my opinion a player of such stature shouldn't have taken retirement while sitting at home. He should have announced retirement from the ground.”

"In my opinion, if Dhoni had done the same then his fans would have been more happy, including me since I rate him as the best Indian skipper," the former Pakistan skipper added.

Dhoni took to social media last Saturday to announce his retirement, ending his illustrious cricket career that saw both ups and downs.

'Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shair Hoon': MS Dhoni bids adieu to international cricket

After the 2019 Cricket World Cup, where he was criticised for slow batting, Dhoni took a long sabbatical from cricket and went on to train with the Indian personnel in Kashmir.

India's semifinal match against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup was the last occasion where Dhoni went out to play for the national team wearing the jersey number seven.

However, the 'Captain Cool' will play the 13th edition of Indian Premier League- a mega T20 cricket tournament- which will be held in UAE between September and November this year.
