Mumbai, June 27 (IBNS) In order to make certain that Mizoram can be placed at par with other states, Cricket Association of Mizoram has sent a formal request to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), seeking affiliation, officials said on Saturday.

Chief Minister of Mizoram Lal Thanhawala, who is also the President of Cricket Association of Mizoram, thanked the BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya for having fruitful discussions with Biswajit Deb, Advocate General of Mizoram, with regard to seeking affiliation to the BCCI.

"Mr. Dalmiya has forwarded the matter to the affiliation committee members with a request to take up the matter for consideration so that a decision is taken at the earliest in the interest of the game of cricket," the BCCI said in a statement.

With regard to promotion of the game in the North Eastern States, Dalmiya has already sent his recommendations to the New Area Development Committee, which included preparation of more turf wickets, conducting coaching programmes, appointment of coaches and support staff, supply of ground equipment and cricket gear, preparation of budgets for development programmes and its continuous monitoring.

"Also, the recommendations included development of one full-size cricket ground, one mini “budget” stadium and one indoor coaching facility per state," read the statement.
