Laxita Vinod Sandila sets new personal best, wins gold in women's 1500m race at Asian U-20 Athletics Championships

Yecheon/South Korea: Laxita Vinod Sandila of India displayed an outstanding performance on the concluding day of the Asian U-20 Athletics Championships, securing a gold medal in the women's 1500m race. 

She achieved a remarkable personal best time of 4:24.23 seconds, surpassing her previous record of 4:26.48s by over two seconds. This victory marked India's fifth gold medal of the championship, contributing to their impressive tally of 17 medals, reported EastMojo.

Meanwhile, Mehdi Hasan added to India's medal count by securing a bronze in the men's 1500m race with a commendable time of 3:56.01s. In another notable achievement, Shivaji Parashu Madappagoudra clinched a silver medal in the men's 5000m race, clocking in at 14:49.05s.

The opening day of the championship saw Rezoana Mallick Heena and Bharatpreet Singh emerge victorious, claiming gold medals in the women's 400m and men's discus throw events, respectively. Siddharth Choudhary continued India's success on Monday, winning gold in the shot put event with a personal best throw of 19.52m.

Adding to the triumph, Sunil Kumar secured a yellow metal in the decathlon event on Tuesday.

India's athletes have showcased exceptional talent and determination throughout the championship, bringing home several medals and making the nation proud.
