Hyderabad, May 18 (IBNS): Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) continued their strong performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets here on Sunday.

Restricting Hyderabad to 142 for eight, KKR reached 146 by losing three wickets with two balls to spare.

It was an all-round batting performance that helped the side win the match after skipper Gautam Gambhir (6), who has been performing well with the bat in the past couple of matches for the side, was caught behind off Dale Steyn's bowling left KKR at eight runs for the loss of one at the end of second over of the innings.

Man in form Robin Uthappa played another useful knock of 40 runs while Manish Pandey (35), Yusuf pathan (39*) and Ryan ten Doeschate (25*) added crucial runs with their willows.

After Hyderabd picked up Pandey's wicket in the 15.2 overs, it seemed that KKR might lose the way but Pathan and Ryan added 42 runs in the fourth wicket partnership and reached the target.

Steyn and Karn Sharma took one wicket each for Hyderabad.

Earlier, KKR bowlers restricted Hyderabad to 142 for eight.

David Warnerremained the top scorer for the side with his 18-ball 34. He smashed three boundaries and two sixes in his knock.

Umesh Yadav took three wickets while Shakib Al Hasanscalped two for KKR.

The victory took KKR more closer to play-off.
