Rio, Aug 17 (IBNS): Despite making a poor start, Indian badminton player Kidambi Srikanth fought hard and gave China's defending Olympic champion Lin Dan a tough competition before going down in the quater-finals clash of the men's singles event at the ongoing Rio Olympics here on Wednesday.

The Indian was defeated by his experienced opponent 6-21, 21-11, 18-21.

The loss also ended Srikanth's dream of winning a medal at the Olympics.

In the semi-final, Lin will face top seed Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia.
