Kashmir: National Snowshoe championship concludes in Gulmarg

Srinagar/IBNS: Uttarakhand bagged the sixth National Snowshoe Championship that concluded at Gulmarg on Sunday.

J&K bagged the most number of medals in the SnowShoe Championship.

11 medals were gained by Jammu and Kashmir in the championship, but in total more gold medals still remained with Uttarakhand.

Overall Maharashtra finished second while J&K finished third.

For J&K, young female athlete Sara emerged as the star performer by winning two gold medals.

She had bagged a gold medal in long-distance Saturday and the next gold in the sprint category Sunday.

The championship was organised by the J&K Snowshoe Association in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir and under the auspices of the Snowshoe Federation of India.

The championship witnessed the participation of around 100 athletes  representing 10 State teams, HAWS and ITBP teams.
