Karun Nair scores 300 runs

Chennai, Dec 19 (IBNS): Indian batsman Karun Nair has scored 300 runs in the first innings of India against England in the fifth Test here on Monday.

He remained unbeaten at 303 runs.

He played 381 balls, hitting 32 boundaries and four sixes, in his way to 300.

He is the second Indian batsman to score a triple hundred.

India declared at 759/7.

India took 282 runs lead against England.

England had scored 477 runs all out in the first innings.

This is India's highest ever Test score in an innings.

Nair is playing his thrid Test.

Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag tweeted: "Yay ! Welcome to the 300 club @karun126. It was very lonely here for the last 12 years 8 months.Wish you the very best Karun.Maza aa gaya!"
