Kanpur Test: Southee picks 5 wickets after Shreyas Iyer's debut Test ton, India 339/8 at lunch on day 2

Kanpur/IBNS: Kiwi pace bowler Tim Southee attained a five-wicket haul after Shreyas Iyer slammed his debut Test hundred in the first session on day two of the inaugural Test between India and New Zealand with the hosts finishing at 339/8 at lunch.

Iyer, who began his batting right from where he left last evening, scored the remaining 25 runs to touch 100 on the second day of first Test between India and New Zealand here.

Iyer became the 10th Indian to hit a debut Test hundred at home, sharing the list with greats like Lala Amarnath, Gundappa Viswanath, Mohammad Azharuddin, Rohit Sharma.

He was dismissed at 105.

After India lost wickets in quick succession, it was Ravichandran Ashwin who held the innings together and played his strokes looking for a formidable first innings total for India.

Ashwin is not out at 38 off 54 balls along with Umesh Yadav (4 off 28 balls).
