Italy's footballer Davide Astori passes away

Rome,Mar 4 (IBNS): Fiorentina captain and Italy international Davide Astori has passed away at the age of 31, his club confirmed on Sunday.

The club said the Italian international died die to 'sudden illness'.

Fiorentina were scheduled to play Udinese in Serie A clash on Sunday.

However, the match and all other Serie A fixtures of the day were reportedly cancelled following the death of the footballer.

Astori joined Fiorentina in 2016 from Cagliari.

He has made 58 appearances for the club since then.

"The deeply distraught Florentine is forced to communicate that his captain Davide Astori has disappeared, caught by sudden illness. For the terrible and delicate situation, and especially for the respect of his family appeals to the sensibility of all," Fiorentina tweeted.
