Mumbai, Apr 26 (IBNS): Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has been fined Rs 12 lakh by the IPL governing body for slow over rate.

"As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh," an IPL press release said.

The incident took place on Wednesday during the high-octane encounter between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Chennai Super Kings at the former's backyard.

The match, which recorded 33 sixes, was won by the Tamil Nadu based side.

MS Dhoni, who was adjudged the man of the match, made a mockery of a competitive target of 206 runs, reaching it with two balls to spare.
