IPL 2020: Hooda hits quickfire fifty to guide KXIP to 153 for 6 against CSK

Abu Dhabi/UNI: A quickfire fifty from Deepak Hooda guided Kings XI Punjab to a respectable total of 153-6 against Chennai Super Kings in the 53rd match of the IPL 2020, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, here on Sunday.

After being invited to bat first, opener Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul gave KXIP a decent start.

Lungi Ngidi struck in his first over to castle Mayank Agarwal for 26 and break Kings XI Punjab's 48-run opening stand. Chris Gayle joined KL Rahul in the middle after Mayank's wicket.

Lungi Ngidi then dismissed Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul (29), who failed to read the slower ball, and was bowled. In the 11th over, Nicholas Pooran (22) was sent back to the pavilion by Shardul Thakur, and KXIP was reduced to 68/3.

Imran Tahir got rid of inform Chris Gayle (12) in the 12th over to leave KXIP struggle at 72/4.

From there on, Deepak Hooda and Mandeep Singh added 36 runs for the fifth wicket. In the 17th over, Ravindra Jadeja bowled Mandeep (14) to push KXIP on backfoot.

However, Deepak Hooda managed to hit some big shots in the final overs. His unbeaten 62-run knock late in the innings guided Punjab to 153/6 at the end of 20 overs.

Lungi Ngidi starred with the ball as he registered figures of 3/39 for CSK.
