India lead the field in Asia and Middle East Bridge Championship

Noida/IBNS: Champions India are leading the field with 83.91 Victory Points (VPs) at the end of the first round of  the 21st   Asia & Middle East Bridge Championship being organized here by Bridge Federat of India under the aegis of Bridge Federation of Asia, non-playing Captain and coach of Indian team Debasish Ray informed Friday.

India are being followed by United Arab Emirates and Pakistan who have gathered  62.29 VPs and 49.97 VPs respectively.

Bangladesh are lying at the fourth spot collecting 47.60 VPs while Jordan and Saudi Arabia  are at the moment in fifth and sixth with 33.87 VPs and 20.36 VPs respectively.

Two top teams from this competition, being played on line, will qualify for the World Bridge Championship to be held in Italy next March.

The championship is being played on a round robin league basis and final positions of the participating teams would be known after three rounds of play.

The Indian team consisted of  Jaggy Shivdasani, Sumit Mukherjee, Debabrata Majumdar, Keyzad Anklesaria, R Tiwari and Sandeep Thakral.
