Harare, June 22 (IBNS): India beat Zimbabwe by three runs in the final T20 match to clinch the series here on Wednesday.

In a thrilling encounter, which went down to the wire, India posted 138 runs for the loss of six wickets after going out to bat first and then it was Zimbabwe who gave tough times to the visitors but were restricted at 135 runs for six in 20 overs.

Timycen Maruma posted a challenge for the Indian bowlers at the end as he hammered quick-fire 13-ball unbeaten 23 runs, hitting one boundary and two sixes.

Vusi Sibanda remained the top scorer for the side with his 28 runs knock.

In the last over, Zimbabwe needed 21 runs with skipper MS Dhoni giving young bowler Sran the responsibility to handle the pressure and scoop the match to India's favour.

Maruma hit a massive six in the first ball of the over to put Sran under pressure.

A wide and a no ball, coupled with a boundary hammered by Maruma made more things tough for Sran.

Chigumbura hit another boundary at the end.

In the last ball,  Sran picked up  Chigumbura's wicket which helped India win the match by three runs.

India won the series 2-1.

Riding on Kedar Jadhav's 58 runs knock, India earlier posted 138 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.
