India beat New Zealand by six runs in D/L method, win series
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 7 (IBNS): In a rain interrupted match, India defeated New Zealand by six runs by Duckworth Lewis method in the third T20I, winning the bilateral series 2-1 here on Tuesday.
The match was reduced to eight overs for each side due to rain. Four bowlers were permitted to bowl two overs each under the revised play.
Winning the toss, New Zealand had sent India to take the charge with bat and the men-in-blue scored 67/5 in eight overs.
Captain Virat Kohli's 13 (6), Manish Pandey's 17 (11) and Hardik Pandya's unbeaten14 (10) helped India to set 68 as the target for the Kiwis.
Tim Southee was the best bowler for New Zealand with 2/13 in two overs. Ish Sodhi picked up two wickets while Trent Boult got one wicket.
Chasing a total of 68, New Zealand lost their way in the middle and struggled to get past the Indian total. Eventually the Kiwis could score 61/6 in eight overs, falling short of six runs to win the match.
Colin de Grandhomme was the top scorer for New Zealand with 17 runs from 10 balls.
Jasprit Bumrah, who is known for his brilliant death-over bowling, picked up two wickets in two overs conceding just nine runs.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav shared one wicket each.
