India beat Belgium to clinch 2nd Junior Hockey World Cup Title

Lucknow, Dec 18 (IBNS): India defeated Belgium 2-1 in the Junior Hockey World Cup Final to clinch the title, giving a chance to the nation to enjoy the moment, here on Sunday.

For India, Gurjant Singh (8th minute) and Simranjeet Singh (22nd minute) scored the goals to get early lead in the match.

Indian defenders did not give Belgium an oppurtunity to bounmce back much into the clash.

This was the second title for Indian junior team.

They had grabbed the trophy earlier in 2001.

Fabrice Van Boackaijck scored one goal for the visitors to decrease the margin to 2-1.
