Imran Khan enjoys India-Pakistan WC clash on TV, congratulates Babar Azam over victory

Dubai/Islamabad: Pakistan PM Imran Khan on Sunday congratulated his country's cricket team after Babar Azam and his men registered the first victory in a World Cup tournament against India.

Khan shared a photo on his Twitter handle where he could be seen enjoying the game by watching it on TV.

"Congratulations to the Pakistan Team & esp to Babar Azam who led from the front, as well as to the brilliant performances of Rizwan & Shaheen Afridi. The nation is proud of you all," he tweeted.

Khan, a 1992 World Cup winning skipper, had lost the group stage match against India in that tournament that year.

Mohammad Rizwan (78*) and skipper Babar Azam (68*) absolutely dominated the proceedings as they helped Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets in a high-voltage Super 12 World T20 clash here on Sunday, changing a page in history when the 'Men in Green' finally succeeded in beating their neighbours in a World Cup fixture.

After restricting India to 151 for the loss of seven wickets, Pakistan openers dominated the proceedings and cruised to 152 runs without losing a wikcet with 13 balls to spare.

None of the Indian bowlers shined in the match and looked helpless infront of the Pakistan batsmen.

Babar hammered six boundaries and two sixes while Rizwan contributed six boundaries and threew over boundaries in his knock.

This is the first time Pakistan beat India in a World Cup match since meeting each other in the ICC showpiece event for the first time in 1992.
