I-L: Mumbai FC host bottom-placed Mohammedan SC

Pune, Apr 26 (IBNS): Mumbai FC will be keen to end their campaign on a high when they host bottom-placed Mohammedan SC in a final round I-League encounter at the Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune on Sunday.

Going into the game after an extended break, the hosts will be fresh and motivated to extend their five-match unbeaten run and will be eager to gain all three points.

Having suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat early on in the season against the Kolkata-side, Mumbai FC will be eager to get some revenge.

However, the game against the relegation threatened Mohammedan will not be an easy one as they are in desperate need of three points.

With the odds stacked heavily against them, the Kolkata-side will go all out in search of a win and hosts will need to be focussed.

Mumbai FC come into the game having beaten Churchill Brothers 4-2 at home in the previous game, and Coach Khalid Jamil expects a similar performance in front of the rival goal tomorrow.

The Coach also praised Yusif Yakubu’s effort against the Goan-side after the veteran Ghanaian striker scored a hattrick and lot will be riding on his shoulders tomorrow.

Mumbai FC are currently placed eighth in the table, the same place they achieved last season. However, the hosts do have a chance of improving on it; but will need a win along with a combination of other results to finish in the top half of the table.

Over the years both sides have met five times, with Mohammedan boasting three wins compared to Mumbai FC’s two. So, a win will not only balance the head-to-head record but also will help Mumbai FC reverse the first-leg result in this season.
