Mumbai/IBNS: Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir Friday remembered how India scripted history by winning a World Cup for the first time in 24 years on this day way back in 2007.

Gambhir shared a picture of himself playing in the T20 World Cup final saying, "When every Indian became a champion after 24 years!"

Gambhir had almost single-handedly led India's batting in the final match against Pakistan by scoring a memorable knock of 75 off 54 balls.

In a last over thriller, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's India clinched a five-run victory.

Before 2007, India had won the 50 overs World Cup under Kapil Dev's leadership in 1983.
