Gautam Gambhir remember India's World T20 victory nine years ago

New Delhi, Sept 24 (IBNS): Nine years have passed since India won the inaugural World T20 in South Africa in 2007 as the nation remembered the moment of glory on Saturday.

India, under the leadership of a young skipper MS Dhoni, defeated arch-rival Pakistan by five runs in the final to clinch the trophy.

Remembering the moment, Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir, who had scored 75 runs in the match, tweeted: "On this day, 9 years ago. We eclipsed the impossible against all odds! #Throwback."

"Glad to have contributed to one of our most historic wins- 75 (54)! #Throwback," he said.

In the last edition of the tournament this year, India failed to reach the final. West Indies won the title for the second time by beating England.
