Former Australian fast bowler Max Walker passes away
He was battling with cancer.
In his career, he had played 34 Tests and 17 one-day internationals for Australia.
The bowler had claimed 138 Test wickets and 20 in one-dayers between 1973 and 1981.
"Max was an outstanding cricketer who played an important role in the emergence of successful Australian cricket teams in the 1970s," said Cricket Australia CEO James Suitherland was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia website.
Former England cricketer Ian Botham condoled the death of the cricketer and tweeted: "One of Tasmania's greatest exports to the game of cricket has sadly passed away "Max Walker" a gentle giant ! RIP 'Tangles'."
Former fast bowler Jason Gillespie said: "Shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Max Walker.
Great company, A lovely man. Our thoughts are with his family. #RIP."
Australian skipper Steve Smith posted: "RIP Max Walker. Very sad news #263."
Australian opener David Warner said: "Sad to wake up and hear the passing of baggy green #263 Max Walker. Besides cricket that larger than life smile will always be remembered ."
