London,Feb 2 (IBNS): British football club Everton on Friday said footballer Eliaquim Mangala has chosen to wear the Club’s number 13 shirt following his deadline-day loan move from Manchester City.

The footballer has opted to take the jersey he wears for France on arriving at Goodison Park.

"Mangala has been capped eight times by his country – and at both the 2014 World Cup and European Championship two years later was given squad number 13," read the Everton website.

"The 26-year-old, who has agreed a deal to spend the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign with the Toffees, could potentially make his debut for the Club in Saturday’s meeting with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium," the club said.

An excited Mangala tweeted:" I will wear a new blue on my shoulders, I am an Everton player for the rest of the season! I want to wish all the best for Shark Team I will fight with my new colors to achieve the objectives of Everton #NewChallenge #LetsGo."
