Djokovic ends Nadal's run in French Open
In a three-set encounter, Djokovic shined against his opponent and clinched the match 7-5 6-3 6-1.
He will face UK's Andy Murray or David Ferrer in the last-four stage of the tournament.
Nadal, who is celebrating his 29th birthday, is considered as one of the greatest performers in the tournament.
The 2014 winner has won the French Open title nine times in his career.
It was for the first time since 2009 when Nadal was defeated in French Open.
He was defeated in the fourth round of the tournament in 2009.
